Anwar has a daughter, Willow, by actor Craig Sheffer, born in 1993, with whom she appeared in the film Daddy Who?. Anwar was later married to actor John Verea with whom she had a son, Hugo, and daughter, Paisley, before divorcing. Craig Sheffer is godfather to Anwar's children from her relationship with Verea.
Since April 2010, Anwar has been in a relationship with Shareef Malnik. Anwar has become an American citizen. In August 2015, Anwar and Malnik married in Montana.
